For those of you who've been asking me for years 'when am I going to get a proper Land Rover' and now saying 'finally a proper Landy' 😴 Sooo, I thought I would do a little bit of a comparison post after owning the 90 for almost a month now and even got a few of you to give me comparatives. Let's see which one really is the better Land Rover (in MY opinion, this is not fact.)
So out of 10 I'm going to rate the Freelander 2 Td4 XS v's the Defender 90 Td5 XS (can you guess what my favourite spec is 🤔)
AND REMEMBER THIS IS ONLY AFTER ONE MONTH SO THINGS COULD CHANGE IN TIME!
Fuel Consumption about town (it is/was my daily vehicle) :
Freelander - 4/10 (I did have the tent on 24/7/365 though)
90 - 7/10 so far so good!!
Comfort :
Freelander - 9/10 all black leather heated seats were a dream.. (loses a point for having the leather seam down the centre of the seat as that was a little uncomfortable at times)
Defender - 8/10 Half leather black heated seats are very comfy but maybe not quite as much.. (I'm short so I have lots of room but not as many seat position options)
Ease of driving :
Freelander - 10 (it was an auto)
Defender - 6 (if you can't find it, grind it 🥴 would also love a 6th gear like the puma)
Cost to fill :
Freelander - £135
Defender - £100
Tax :
Freelander - £295
Defender - £639
Insurance :
Freelander - 7/10 Not too bad or expensive but at the same time I have 9 years no claims and it hasn't changed much in the 3 years I owned the car.
Defender - 9/10 CHEAPER than the Freelander to insure which makes up slightly for the difference in tax I had to pay 🥴
0-60 ... let's just not talk about that.
